Supporting families. strengthening communities. advancing indigenous governance

Culturally grounded support, training, and advisory services rooted in lived experience, professional practice, and a deep commitment to First Nations wellbeing.

There are moments in life that shape the direction we take and the work we are called to do.

My journey into this work is rooted in both professional experience and personal reality. As a social worker, I have spent years supporting individuals, families, and communities through complex systems. I have seen how difficult it can be to navigate services, how often families are left without clear answers, and how systems can create additional barriers during already challenging times.

As a First Nations woman, I also understand that healing, support, and governance must be grounded in culture, relationships, and community. Our people carry strength, knowledge, and resilience - and any work meant to support our communities must honour that.

Professional Background

I hold a Master of Social Work and have experience working across multiple areas including child welfare, community support, and system navigation. My work has included supporting families through complex and often overwhelming processes, as well as contributing to conversations around policy, governance, and community wellbeing.

Through both my education and experience, I have developed a strong understanding of:

  • systems and how they operate

  • the importance of ethical and accountable practice

  • the need for culturally grounded approaches

  • the impact of trauma on individuals, families, and communities

Why this work matters

This work is deeply personal.

I have experienced firsthand how systems can fail families and how important it is to have support that is clear, informed, and compassionate. I have also seen the gaps that exist — in communication, in accountability, and in culturally appropriate approaches.

These experiences have shaped how I approach my work today.

I believe that families deserve:

  • clear information

  • respectful support

  • advocacy when needed

  • systems that work with them, not against them

I believe that communities deserve:

  • strong governance

  • clear policies

  • training that builds capacity

  • services that reflect their values

Who I serve

Through Dana Nepoose Consulting & Wellness, I offer support in four key areas:

my Approach

My work is grounded in:

  • Relationship - building trust and connection

  • Accountability - ensuring clarity, structure, and ethical practice

  • Cultural Understanding - honouring Indigenous ways of knowing and being

  • Practical Support - providing real, usable guidance

I do not believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.

Every family, every community, and every organization is different. My role is to meet people where they are and work alongside them in a way that is respectful, informed, and meaningful.

closing

At the core of everything I do is a simple belief:

People matter.
Families matter.
Communities matter.

And the systems that serve them must reflect that.
